City Receives Five Grants from the Ohio Public Works Commission

The City of Riverside was awarded five grants and 0% loans totaling over $2.5 million dollars from the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) for the following projects.

Valley Street (east) Resurfacing: This project includes resurfacing Valley Street from east of Harshman Road to the Eastern Corporation limit. The cost of the project is estimated at $537,000. A grant/loan was awarded in the amount of $499,999. The City is responsible for the balance which is being paid from gas tax. The loan amount of the award is $375,000 for 20 years at 0% interest.

Needmore Road Resurfacing: This project includes resurfacing Needmore Road from the Eastern Corporation limit (just west of Brandt Pike) to the Western Corporation limit (just east of Troy Pike). The cost of the project is estimated at $666,234. A grant/loan was awarded in the amount of $499,999. The City is responsible for the balance which is being paid from gas tax. The loan amount of the award is $375,000 for 20 years at 0% interest.

West Springfield Street Reconstruction: This project reconstructs West Springfield Street from Harshman Road to Northcliff Drive including the curb, catch basins, some joint replacement and resurfacing the entire roadway. The cost of the project is estimated at $3.4 million. An MVRPC grant in the amount of $1.8 million was previously awarded, and OPWC awarded $900,000 in a grant/loan combination. The City is responsible for the balance which will be paid from Permissive Tax, Gas Tax and Motor Vehicle Tax. The loan amount of the award is $229,000 for 20 years at 0% interest.

Bayside Cluster Streets as a Joint Award with Montgomery County Environmental (Water): This project includes improving portions of Pandora Drive, Chaucer Road, Denny Lane, Bayside Drive, Barrett Drive, Orinoco Street, Grammercy Drive, Ellendale Court. The improvements are joint projects with Montgomery County Environmental Services. They will replace the waterline in 2022 and the roadway work will be performed in 2023. Improvements include resurfacing, spot replacement of curb, gutter, sidewalk, and some driveway apron replacement. The roadway costs are estimated at $1.4 million. A grant was awarded in the amount of $370,000. The balance will be paid from bonds.

Wagon Wheel Cluster Streets as a Joint Award with Montgomery County Environmental (Water): This project includes improving portions of Biltmore Place, Mundy Court, Woodhill Road, Robinwood Avenue, and Viewland Terrance. The improvements are joint projects with Montgomery County Environmental Services. They will replace the waterline in 2022 and the roadway work will be performed in 2023. Improvements include resurfacing, spot replacement of curb, gutter, sidewalk, and some driveway apron replacement. The roadway costs are estimated at $565,000. A grant was awarded in the amount of $332,000. The balance will be paid from bonds.
