The City of Riverside, Ohio is accepting applications for entry level Police Officer.

This position is responsible for enforcing laws and ordinances set by the State of Ohio and City of Riverside. Work involves prevention, detection and investigation of accident and criminal activities, security and safety of prisoners, protection for the public and maintenance of law and order. Officers must be able to act without direct supervision in emergency situations.

Qualified applicants must be at least 21 years of age (at time of appointment), OPOTC certified and have no felony record.  Applicants must also demonstrate an excellent work history and a passion for community involvement. All applicants must undergo polygraph, drug screen, background investigation and physical fitness testing.

All applicants must undergo polygraph, drug screen, background investigation and physical fitness testing.  Minimum starting pay is $27.44 per hour and could increase based on work experience.

The City of Riverside is seeking to establish an eligibility list for the position of full-time firefighter/paramedic.

A City of Riverside Firefighter/Paramedic must be willing to work as part of a team and build professional relationships with staff, colleagues, co-workers, elected officials, community leaders, and citizens.  This position requires a physically fit professional who has a passion to provide efficient professional Fire/EMS services with outstanding communication and leadership skills.

The pay range for the position is $18.91-$24.79/hour.  The Firefighter/Paramedic works a 24/48 schedule as subject to current union contract.

ENTRY LEVEL

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have State of Ohio EMT-P, a current State of Ohio Level II Firefighter Certification, Hazardous Material Operations Certificate, and a valid Ohio Driver’s License at the time of appointment.  The candidate selected for hire must agree to not use tobacco or nicotine containing products, obtain a State of Ohio Fire Safety Inspector Certification, be cleared as a primary care giver on the Medic and become a certified Engine Driver/Operator within 12 months of their start date in order to successfully complete their probationary period.  All certifications must be maintained during employment. The applicant must comply with all job description requirements throughout employment. The Fire Chief may waive certain minimum requirements to ensure an adequate candidate pool.

LATERAL ENTRY

Lateral Entry Wage and Benefits: Candidates meet entry level and presently working as a full-time firefighter or paramedic may be considered for a lateral entry pay range depending on experience and time in grade as determined by the Fire Chief on a case by case basis. Vacation accrual credit will be awarded with prior government service. Accrued sick leave is transferrable with verification from previous employer.

PART-TIME FIREFIGHTER

The City of Riverside is accepting applications for Part-time Firefighter. Under general direction, performs specialized work with regard to protecting life and property through fire suppression, fire prevention and emergency medical services and may assist with fire inspection and code enforcement duties related to the position of Fire Inspector. Minimum qualifications include Ohio certificate for EMT-Basic and Firefighter I, Current Ohio Driver’s license, NIMS 100 and 700. Pay Range is $8.27  – $16.00 / hour.  Applicant must be agreeable to work 24 hours every 6th day.
