The City of Riverside was awarded a $500K Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) Grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation for the construction of Woodman Phase 1 from US 35 to Eastman Avenue. This is a $6.35 million project, which is being funded with several state and federal grants.
This project consists of total reconstruction of Woodman Drive from US 35 to Eastman Avenue adding sidewalk on the east side and a bike path on the west side of Woodman. In addition, curb, gutter and new storm sewer will be installed. This is the first phase of a 4-phase reconstruction of Woodman from US 35 to Springfield Street.
“This grant is one of the final pieces of multiple grants being used to construct Woodman from 35 to Eastman,” Public Services Director Kathy Bartlett states, “We anticipate applying for future federal and state grants as well as Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grants for future phases.”
Construction for Woodman Phase 1 is scheduled to begin in 2025. The next segment to be designed is Woodman Phase 4, Airway Road to Springfield Street.
