Harshman Cemetery Updated Rules and Regulations

In order to provide a more consistent and organized appearance while providing better and more efficient maintenance practices, the City of Riverside has updated the the rules and regulations governing memorials effective October 1, 2023.  Please respect the Harshman Cemetery for the benefit of community members, past and future, by reading and abiding by the rules that car for and decorating grave sites. These regulations will ensure Harshman Cemetery is serving Riverside for many generations to come

PERMITTED ON FLAT MARKERS NOV. 30TH- MARCH 1ST:
• Artificial flowers, designs, or wreaths.
• Flag holders, pots, wreaths, artificial flowers are permitted for Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Halloween, and Thanksgiving.
• All these items must be removed within seven days after the holiday, or they will be disposed of.
• Cut flowers are always welcome, providing they are not in any container or packaging.
• NO items that impede the ability to safely mow directly over the flat marker may be installed, these include plantings, edging, stones/gravel, mulch, fences etc.

PERMITTED ON UPRIGHT MONUMENTS IN ALL SEASONS:
• Artificial flowers, designs or wreaths will be permitted within 12” of the monument until they become withered, soiled, or unsightly. If the owner fails to remove any such neglected decorations, the Cemetery retains the right to remove them.
• Cut flowers are always welcome, providing they are not in any containers or packaging, and are permitted if placed within 12” of the monument.

NO FENCE, COPING, DITCH, HEDGE, TRELLIS, POST, CHAIN, RAILING, STEP, BORDER, SHELLS, WIRE ARCHES, ADVERTISEMENTS OF ANY FORM, VEHICLES OF ANY CHARACTER, GLASSWARE, BOXES CONTAINING ARTIFICIAL WREATHS OR ENCLOSURES OF ANY KIND SHALL BE PLACED AT ANY LOCATION.
